Each week we honor and celebrate one of the philosophers, songwriters, teachers, religious leaders, or thought leaders who left behind inspiring work to support the world’s path toward ending war and violence. During our Sip-Ins this month we, remembered John Lennon, Jill Jackson Miller and Sy Miller, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Thicht Nhat Hahn. We invite you to use these resources for your own meditative practice with tea to imagine how different the world will be when it, ” . . . as it was meant to be.” (Jill and Sy Miller). Imagine Card: Heroes of peace

John Lennon

Imagine all the people
Livin’ life in peace
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr.

“I refuse to accept the cynical notion that nation after nation must spiral down a militaristic stairway into the hell of nuclear annihilation . . . I believe that even amid today’s mortar bursts and whining bullets, there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow.”

Acceptance of Nobel Peace Prize, December 10, 1964

Thicht Nhat Hahn

If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.”

Your Personal Sip-In

Your daily cup of tea can easily become your personal Sip-In; your moment of meditation to recall the people who shared their own beliefs in world peace. As you sip your tea, remember and consider what this means to you. Does finding your own personal peace give you additional hope for the future?

Consider Hosting a Group Sip-In

Who might enjoy Sipping-In?

Everyone! Anyone! Even though we suggest tea as the beverage of choice and awareness of tea.  Don’t limit your plan to engage only tea lovers. Your book group, yoga studio, spiritual congregation, senior center or school may want to plan a Sip-In. This is for anyone interested in the connection between a personal tea practice and the possibility of a world without war and violence of any kind.

What will you do?

A Sip-In is a gathering of tea drinkers sharing a cup of glass of tea, awareness of tea cultures around the world, connecting the inner peace to create a vision of how the world will be changed when there are no more wars.

A Sip-In can be as small or as large as your space permits. It is just a choice between Sip for Peace as a personal practice or sharing it with others. Feel free to use the resource materials we will be providing weekly.
