Tea is the second most consumed beverage globally, yet we are still left wondering why films often include other drinks, but for tea it is rare or just a few seconds of footage. Maybe it’s that beverages in cans and bottles are often included in scenes because of their convenience. But having teatime is fun, and it is healthy too! Imagine watching tea scenes and being motivated to buy tea after the movie, giving you one more reason to enjoy!
Good thing that there are movies for tea lovers that showcase teapots, gatherings, and drinking tea. Here are the movies we can recommend for tea lovers out there.
Princess Diaries (2001)
Tea lovers will look forward to this movie between the tea set, discovering being a royal family, and the sophisticated talk mixed with casual conversation. Even without the tea scene the film is fun to watch, especially if you’re looking for chick flicks or are a young girl wanting to imagine being a princess.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)
This movie might be unpleasant but still loveable for tea lovers. The background scenery is astounding, translating the classic and popular novel Alice in Wonderland to the live-action big screen. Tea lovers will like it because of the tea sets, tea party in a dark place, and the funny mess; yet might find it unpleasant because of the tea manners.

Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016)
Unlike in the previous Disney’s Alice in Wonderland movie where the scene is dark and we lamented the table manners and the broken wares, this scene is the opposite. Delightful to watch and with a lively, colorful background. Their outfits are suitable for the beautiful tea party – except for the one gentleman who looks like he does not want to sit at a tea party.

Downton Abbey (2019)
There is a royal dinner in the movie, but since this scene from The Kelly Clarkson Show is related to the film I will include it: A sophisticated yet informal “Never Have I Ever” with the cast of Downton Abbey. The Downton Abbey movie is about the worldly lives of the royal families, aristocrats, and servants in 1927. It is a period drama that is enjoyable to watch, especially when you have previously watched the tv series. The musical score is also good.

Christopher Robin (2018)
This movie is about a grownup Christopher Robin’s relationship to Winnie the Pooh and friends. This scene is very cute. It is like playing with toys and teddy bears and having a tea afternoon with them. It is a lovely imagination to have, and this scene brought it to life. Best of all, it is located on a moving train with good customer service.

Mary Poppins (1964)
Before the Sound of Music, Julie Andrews starred in this beautiful film Mary Poppins. (She also played one of the main characters in Princess Diaries.) Fun to watch and listen to, the tea scene is unique because they are floating in the air. A classic movie for the whole family to enjoy. (Unfortunately, this French language audio version is the only clear video of the scene I could find.)

Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Not for the whole family, but this film is action meets fictional historical WW2 events. In this part of the movie, tea lovers will probably remember sweet drinks, desserts, and the ambiance of classic French décor. Watching this will also tempt crepe and cake lovers to go and have a snack at a café.

Shazam (2019)
We must spend time playing with our kids. Shazam is a superhero movie, Unfortunately this sweet part is a deleted scene. Good thing they included this on the DVD and Blu-Ray. Kids, especially girls, want to have a tea party in their rooms, and we as parents can join their tea parties.

The Importance of Being Earnest (1952)
A movie adaptation from Oscar Wilde’s novel of the same name. A movie about pretentiousness, comedy, love, and satire. This scene is like a catfight, except that it is classy and sophisticated—a catfight, teatime style. Joan Greenwood’s voice adds to the sophistication of this movie. You can also ignore their lines and just look at the teaware they use and the butlers’ good service.

The Great Gatsby (2013)
It is a date, but with afternoon tea instead of a dinner date. If only a tea lover were there in that scene, they would surely get a macaroon and sip tea before leaving the place. For people who like to watch the romantic tragedy genre, this film is for you and overall, the movie’s great. You can enjoy seeing the costumes and the tea party motif.
