It’s World Tea Expo time; a favorite time of year for tea people around the globe. For three days one of the largest gatherings of tea producers, tea traders, tea business people, tea media, and tea shop owners come together to talk trends and business. I have participated in five World Tea Expos and really look forward to welcoming all my best tea friends to my home of Las Vegas June 15-17, 2016. Those that have registered for the expo and conference will get to explore products available in the market on the expo floor and will get top notch education sessions during the conference. A three-day trip to Las Vegas is a significant investment, but a necessary one for those that want to step up their tea business. The World Tea Expo is about much more than the exhibition floor and classes, though. It is a huge resource for tea people because of the networking and camaraderie developed in the industry.
Many of my friends in the industry that exhibit at the show every year say that it is an essential place for them to make business connections. Much business is happening at the expo, as is much friendship building. These friendships may not lead to direct business but help put together collaborations and initiatives that serve to spread awareness about tea in the market. For instance, in 2015 Dan Bolton used his networking opportunities to bring together a team of leaders in high-quality tea to launch the Tea Journey Magazine campaign which just reached its crowdfunding goal of $125,000. Dan was intelligent to utilize the chance to plant seeds in the community that would be able to help him the most in putting this initiative together. Now all in the group can work on a single platform to promote the education of quality tea which will collectively help all of their businesses with reaching new customers and markets.
My company will be involved with several networking and celebrations during the week of World Tea Expo. On the evening leading up to the expo, we will be participating in a meetup for Tea Festival organizers around the world to collaborate and connect with sponsors and supporters of tea festivals. We believe Tea Festivals are a vital tool for spreading tea education, and you can read why here. On Wednesday night, we will be hosting a sold out tea pairing event at the hottest new tea spot in Las Vegas called Niu-Gu.
Attendees will enjoy delicious food and get some inspiration for tea pairings they can do with their own clients. As an extra special educational treat, we will be featuring tea growers that will prepare their own teas and explain what makes them unique. On Friday, we invite our tea friends to join us for a dinner at Flock & Fowl, one of our favorite hidden gem restaurants for an intimate dinner with tea to be followed by an after party at our office just off the strip. We invite all attendees of the expo that want to kick back, have a little fun, and meet our team at our office at 4535 W. Russell Rd. Suite 11, Las Vegas, NV 89118 from 8:30PM-Late.
You can keep up with all of Tealet’s WTE activities here. You can also come by and learn about our unique business model and support of direct trade tea at the World Green Tea Association at booth #535 from June 15-17 during the expo. If you are coming to Vegas prepare for the heat and the fun that this wonderful city has to offer. I am also happy to provide any hotel or activities recommendations as a local of this city for the past three years.
