Hawaii, Vegas
Mississippi, Oregon
Ahh, competition
Is not the spirit of tea
Naomi named plants
Whimisical monikers, yes
Seventy tea seeds
Camellia sinensis dreams

Love it Regena. Did you plant some tea seeds in that new greenhouse of yours or am I just reading too much into that?
The greenhouse was built in 1980, Michelle. We haven’t used it much in recent years, although I did start some lettuce this year, I did not plant the tea seeds in the greenhouse, although they would like the humidity there.
Hi Regena..more information please…are these all places where tea is now being grown in the U.S.? Has anyone ever tasted the tea grown at the Bigelow Plantation in the South?
Hi Diane! Tea is growing commercially in Washington State – near Puyallup, which enjoys a marine climate. Hawaii boasts having grown the most expensive kilo or so in the world; Jason McDonald has a plantation going in Mississippi. I know North Carolina has been successful — is that where Bigelow is?
My newest tea haiku, eight days after placing split seed in tidy little pots with organic growing medium:
Robins, pesky thieves
Spreading tea seeds far away
Two found in lettuce.
Thanks Regena, I wonder how Brendon Waye’s tea experiment is coming in Canada. It sounds like yours will be the typical gardener’s battle of birds and bugs. :) Bigelow is in Charleston, South Carolina. I wonder how tea would do in Southern California…don’t think we have the right climate, we’re so dry.
