Every once in a while a new idea is put into action and the result is nothing short of miraculous.  Miito has an innovative prototype that I can’t wait to get my hands on. This ingenious induction wand marries form and function to create an eco friendly, energy efficient method to heat a single cup of tea.Miito_light

Its premise began with the conclusion that “In the United Kingdom, 65 percent of tea drinkers overfill their kettles and boil more water than is needed for a cup of tea. Turns out, that extra energy—the energy used to heat thrown out or leftover water—is enough to light all the streetlights in London for a night.”  When designers marry form to function, beautiful things can happen and this is clearly a shining example of such an endeavor. Imagine being able to heat a single cup/pot of tea quickly, without waste or fuss because the amount of water needed is reduced to small quantities.  Having an appliance that is aesthetically pleasing is the icing on the cake.  I have no doubt that this beauty will make it into commercialization as its purposes will be quite broad.  Moms can use it to heat formula, kids can use it to make hot chocolate or hot orange juice. The beverage market is ripe for something simple like this.

I look forward to more and more innovative and beautiful tea-related products that will take this ancient brew further into the 21st century.
