I am TEA;
nearly as old as time.
I have shaped a part of ancient history.
Almost every country and culture knows me.
I have been more valuable than silver and gold.
Stories, legends and myths about me have been told.
I have traveled by ship, by camel, by horse and mule.
I was seen as priceless as any exquisite jewel.
Put under lock and key – safe in a chest.
I was more special than the rest.
I am TEA
Treasured and revered – presented to royalty.
Everyone wanted to sip of me.
The beginning of a revolution;
fighting because of me was never the solution.
Coveting me and hoarding me,
selling me and extorting me?
Using me to hurt others and benefit some?
All of this is not who I am.
I am TEA
I am simplicity and tranquility.
I am but a humble leaf.
Drink of me – I offer you relief.
Sip me slowly – surrender away your cares and woes.
I am a neutralizer – with me there are no foes.
I have no enemy and neither do you.
I know all that you have been through.
How do I know?
I am TEA
I am sincerity and clarity.
Look deeply into your cup; that is me you see.
When the cup is empty you will be full.
I give you all of my gifts;
my nutrients as well as my mysteries.
I have been sharing these for centuries.
Taking time with me is special time for you.
This I give you – this is all you have to do.
I am TEA
I am vitality and longevity.
My treasures are free – drink the life out of me.
Locked tightly in my leaves are the secrets I keep.
Release me in water – allow me to steep.
Sip in solitude – drink of my fortitude.
I will share it with you – now you do the same.
Share me others – don’t even ask their name.
Respect and reverence for all in every sip.
I am TEA
I am serenity and spirituality.
Drink me and you drink divinity.
Have a taste of unity and know we are all one;
all part of a grand design – a puzzle already done.
Each of us is a piece and offers their part.
Drink tea – drink peace – drink equality.
See how easy and effortless it can all be.
All coming from a simple leaf like me.
I AM TEA
I always love hearing your words, which I read out loud – they create images to enjoy while sipping a cup of tea. Thank you.
Thank you, Michelle. I enjoy writing those words! Sip away and enjoy!
