Acne is one of the more devastating aspects of adolescence. Many, many teens take expensive acne medication, gladly accepting a plethora of restrictive side-effects, in the hopes that their acne will go away. The acne DOES go away, in most cases, as soon as the chemistry of physical maturity reaches equilibrium. What a boon for the pharmaceutical industry: a perpetual supply of customers paying for the “cure” of something that will go away on its own after five – or more – years! Having worked with teens for twenty years, I was thrilled to find the following quotation in an article, titled “Benefits of Green Tea” :
“Green tea is extremely rich in antioxidants and by drinking plenty of green tea, these antioxidants rid the body of toxins. This appears to be the acne green tea connection.
“The American Academy of Dermatology mentioned a report about a cream that contained a 3% green tea extract. The results of using this green tea cream were similar to the results of using a 4% benzoyl peroxide solution. Green tea has been found to be effective as a spot treatment for acne — but without causing the dryness and irritation that often goes with the benzoyl peroxide.
“Acne sufferers seeking a natural acne remedy now have the choice of either drinking the green tea or using the cream. When taken as a drink, the effects include hormonal benefits that can help you avoid or reduce future acne.
Green tea for acne? Surprisingly yes.”
Turn your teen on to tea! Not only will it help to combat the”scourge” of acne, it tastes great. You don’t have to tell them the bonus effects of proven health benefits for virtually all the body’s systems. Begin with a naturally sweet green tea, like Jasmine. Hide the sugar lumps, and enjoy!
